William H. McElveen III D.M.D., P.A.
Dr. McElveen was born in Jacksonville and grew up near Hollywood, Florida. Following his undergraduate study at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, he attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, graduating with honors in 1988. Since that time he has practiced dentistry in Sarasota.
Regular attendance at professional seminars and continuing education classes keep Dr. McElveen and his staff completely aware of the latest procedures and treatment in the dental field.
My goal as a dentist is to provide the highest quality treatment available. Each of my patients is an individual with totally unique set of needs and regardless of the time and work involved, I consider it my privilege and my duty to fulfill those needs.
With the emergence of HMO's and the PPO's in the last decade, the medical field has gone through changes that have caused people to be treated as procedures. Insurance companies and corporate America dictate the value of service. When prescribed treatment procedures are compartmentalized and stamped with a dollar amount, patients cease to be individuals with specific needs. The patient is the loser and the insurance company is the winner. Dentistry has already gone down the same path with dental clinic chains and large group practices.
I firmly believe that the patients who come to my office for dental maintenance or treatment want quality work with a high degree of caring. With that in mind, every examination or cleaning, every filling, crown, bridge or denture is approached with a special person in mind.
In a time when there is a trend toward "walk-in" medical and dental treatment, I choose to slow down, get to know my patients and treat them with the care and concern they deserve. This is how I have practiced dentisty for over 20 years in Sarasota.
